Product Feature: Aluminum Shade

We’re excited to officially announce one of our newest products: Aluminum Shade.

This is an expansion of our knitted shade collection, joining our Black and White options.

What types of aluminum shade does AIT carry?

Our aluminum shade is made from high-density polyethylene, which offers more versatility than woven polypropylene. Additionally, our polyethylene knits are UV stabilized to protect against UV degradation, resulting in a more durable, longer-lasting fabric.

What are some of the common uses?

Our aluminum knitted shade is different from our other knitted shade products, especially the black knitted style. Aluminum shade is reflective, so it minimizes excess heat from getting underneath the fabric. This, in turn, reduces heat stress on the shielded plants below. This is particularly important in the hotter summer months, especially in southern climates. It’s also helpful when used in the winter, as the reflective properties help to keep existing heat under the shade structure. You could compare the aluminum shade properties to that of a mirror or other highly reflective surface. This unique quality helps to diffuse the light which is often mentioned as beneficial to plants.

Our aluminum shade is silver with 55% shade factor and a weight of 1.7 oz/yd2. It has an airflow of 1,008 CFM.
